MEET YOUR COACH

Hi! I’m Shannon MacPherson, a Certified Wellness Coach with the International Association of Wellness Professionals. My goal is to help you create a healthy lifestyle you love to wake up to every day!

My Focus - Managing Metabolic Health

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of health conditions that often occur together, increasing your risk of serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. These conditions include:

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): Blood pressure consistently higher than normal levels, which strains the heart and blood vessels, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

High Blood Sugar (Hyperglycemia): Elevated blood sugar levels, often due to insulin resistance, a condition where the body’s cells don’t respond properly to insulin. This can lead to type 2 diabetes if left unmanaged.

Excess Abdominal Fat: Having too much fat around the waistline, often referred to as visceral fat, increases the risk of insulin resistance, inflammation, and other metabolic disturbances.

Abnormal Cholesterol Levels: Unhealthy levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, including high LDL (bad) cholesterol and low HDL (good) cholesterol, contribute to the buildup of plaque in the arteries, leading to heart disease and stroke.

Having just one of these conditions doesn’t mean you have metabolic syndrome, but having three or more increases your risk significantly. The good news is that metabolic syndrome can often be managed and even reversed through lifestyle changes, such as adopting a healthy diet, increasing physical activity, and managing stress.

As your health coach, I’m here to support you in making these positive changes and improving your overall health and well-being. Whether you’re seeking to shed excess weight, manage cholesterol effectively, lower blood pressure or lower blood sugar, my focus on metabolic health sets the stage for comprehensive, sustainable health improvements.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS is characterized by a hormonal imbalance, which can lead to a variety of symptoms and potential complications including insulin resistance.

Excess Weight

Excess weight, especially when concentrated around the abdomen (visceral fat), is strongly associated with the development of insulin resistance.

Prediabetes

Prediabetes is often discovered through routine blood tests that measure blood glucose levels. Elevated glucose levels are associated with insulin resistance.
