DIY Coach Sheena

About Me:

Hi, I’m Sheena Hanscel, a certified wellness & DIY coach, and floral designer. One of my biggest passions as a child was simply being outside – playing in the dirt, picking wildflowers, and finding solace sitting in the grass amongst the trees. It was a deep connection to nature that nourished my soul.

Life’s journey has a funny way of bringing us full circle, and mine has led me right back to that childhood passion. Now, I’m blessed to be doing what I love. Working with the natural world, and inspiring others to reconnect it too.

I get to do what I love most: working with herbs, flowers, and garden-grown botanicals, and sharing that joy with others through workshops, DIY projects, and handcrafted products. Whether it’s arranging flowers, crafting teas, body care, or herbal pre-rolls, I love guiding people to explore the beauty and versatility of plants in their everyday lives.

My Story:

My professional life began as a therapist, dedicated to helping others heal and grow. However, life had other plans for me. My own personal struggles with imbalance, unhealthy habits, and a disconnect from my true self ultimately led to a cancer diagnosis and year long stay in Mexico.

Through my health crisis, I reconnected with plants, found balance and discovered a cure in nature over hospitals. During my journey, I rediscovered the transformative power of flowers – a connection that had been dormant since my childhood days. Simply having beautiful flowers around me during this time was healing and brought me joy when I was in pain. This is what ultimately led me to become a DIY coach.

My Transition:

Realizing that my work as a therapist within the hospital was a huge contributor of what landed me in the hospital as a patient motivated me to live differently once I was healthy again. I opened my own business as a holistic wellness coach and soon after began working with brides in DIY floral workshops. By helping them bring their wedding floral visions to life, I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of DIY creation.

I saw how the act of crafting, of bringing something beautiful into being with their own hands, transformed anxiety, stress, and uncertainty into empowerment, confidence, and joy. This was a profound realization for me as I had found this same transformation within myself through working with flowers and creating art – an outlet I never had in my previous life. I thought, “Now this is a powerful healing tool that I want to share with the world.”

This newfound connection to the natural world and DIY workshops opened up a whole new world of plants and opportunity for me. My passion for flowers naturally evolved into an exploration of herbalism, further deepening my understanding of nature’s healing gifts. I began incorporating herbs and flowers into my DIY sessions, creating experiences that were not only creative but also deeply meaningful and intentional.

From teas and tinctures to salves, body care, and pre-rolls, each creation is carefully crafted using native plants from our garden, celebrating the beauty and versatility of local flora. Alongside making these products, I began weaving in educational elements, sharing the origins, traditions, and ancestral practices connected to the plants we use. This approach allows participants not only to craft, but to understand the stories, cultural significance, and historical uses behind each herb and flower.

By combining hands-on creation with knowledge and storytelling, every workshop became more than just a crafting session—they became an immersive experience where participants were gaining skills, inspiration, and a deeper connection to the natural world. Now I am truly doing what I love.

My Approach:

I focus on teaching skills you can take home and use every day. Whether it’s crafting teas, salves, body care, or floral arrangements, my goal is to give you practical techniques, guidance, and inspiration so you can continue creating with plants long after the workshop ends.

Every session is hands-on, approachable, and fun, leaving you with beautiful, functional herbal creations and the confidence to bring the garden into your daily life.

Whether it’s arranging flowers, crafting herbal remedies, or hosting a workshop, I empower you to tap into your own creativity and intuition, transforming the everyday into the sacred. Check out more of my work here!
