What Does a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner Do?

Have you ever been to the doctor and told you need to make nutrition and/or lifestyle changes?

Maybe these changes are related to needing to go on a certain medication or wanting to prevent going on medication.

Maybe the suggestion is that you should add in more movement or reduce your stress levels.

Maybe you are given a brochure or told to come back in six weeks.

But, what does it really mean to make a nutrition and lifestyle change?

Enter a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner (ME!)

My goal is to work in partnership with your health care team to help you make the changes you need to make, so you can live the life you want to live.

This partnership not only works on the physical components of your health, but the mental aspects as well. Change is stressful! Emotions usually run high and it is easy to become overwhelmed.

I need to go gluten free! What does that mean?

What does it mean to balance my blood sugar?

I don’t like sweating and you want me to exercise?

My role is to help you process the feelings and make a plan so you can move forward with your health and wellness goals.

By partnering with your medical team AND a Functional Practitioner you can truly experience holistic care.

Here is what we do:

  • Make a plan that follows your doctor’s recommendations

  • Provide support and accountability

  • Help to process emotions so you can feel empowered over your health

  • Connects you with other resources and support systems as appropriate

  • Provides you with education to understand “what is going on” in your body so you are able to make empowered decisions

  • Help to take away overwhelm, guilt, or shame around a health condition
